Trees, shrubs & the front yard

Tree wraps & yard lighting

The roofline frames the house. Lit trees and shrubs are what make the whole yard feel finished from the street, and we light those too.

Which trees can you wrap?

Trunks of hardwood trees in the front yard are the most common ask, like the tall trunk in the photo above. We can wrap just the trunk or carry the lights up into the main limbs for more glow. Smaller evergreens and shrubs get lights draped evenly over the outside so they read as one shape at night.

How high we go depends on the kind of tree. A straight-trunked hardwood can be wrapped well up into the limbs, while some trees look better with just the trunk done. Dylan will tell you what works for your trees when he comes out to look.

Garland, wreaths, walkways and garden beds

Beyond trees and shrubs, we light walkways up to the door and the outline of garden beds, and we hang garland and lit wreaths. We supply the wreaths, so there's nothing for you to buy. Pick what you want on the request form and we'll fold it into one design and one quote.

Should the yard match the roofline?

Usually, yes. We design the yard and the house together so the colors work as one picture. A warm white roofline with warm white trees reads calm and classic. Red and white on the house with a red and white trunk wrap, like the photo, ties the whole front together.

What about outlets and power?

Yard lights need power close by, so we plan the layout around the outdoor outlets you already have. If a tree is too far from one, we'll tell you while we're designing, before anything goes up.

Shrubs along the front of the house

Foundation shrubs are the easiest way to fill the dark band between the roofline and the lawn. Even a short row of lit bushes under the windows makes the house look brighter from the road.

They pair well with walkway lighting if you want a lit path up to the door.

Questions people ask us

Can you light trees without doing the roofline?

Yes. Some customers only want a big tree or the shrubs in front. We'll design and quote whatever part of the yard you want lit.

Will the lights hurt my tree?

We wrap the trunk and limbs, then take every light back off after the season, so nothing is left on the tree.

Do you supply the wreaths?

Yes. We supply the wreaths along with the lights, hang them, and take them down and store them after the season.

Is yard lighting included in the free maintenance calls?

Yes. Anything we install is covered for the season, roofline or yard.
